Ingredients
6 large apples
Six 3-inch cinnamon sticks
16 ounces Vodka
Jar with tight lid
Directions
Wash the apples thoroughly to remove any dirt or residue. Carefully peel the apples, ensuring you have substantial peels to impart their flavor.
Place the apple peels and cinnamon sticks into the jar.
Pour the vodka over the apple peels and cinnamon sticks, making sure that they're completely submerged. This prevents any spoilage and allows for a uniform extraction of flavors.
If you notice any small bits floating, consider using a glass weight to keep everything submerged.
Tightly secure the lid on the jar. Vigorously shake the jar to mix the ingredients well.
Continue to shake the jar several times each week for six weeks. This helps with better flavor infusion.
After six weeks, use a fine mesh strainer to remove the apple peels and cinnamon sticks from the extract. Make sure the extract is clear and free of any solid particles.
Transfer the clear extract into a clean bottle or jar.
How to Store Apple Cinnamon Extract
Store in a cool, dark place. Properly sealed, these extracts can last indefinitely.
Avoid storing in the refrigerator or freezer, as low temperatures can cause the liquid to thicken or become cloudy.
